Airport Custodial Worker I, Future Openings

Full-time position in the Terminal Services division of the Syracuse Regional Airport Authority.

About the role

The Airport Custodial Worker I ensures a clean and welcoming environment for travelers and visitors. This role operates within a 24/7 airport, requiring flexibility to work any shift. Night shift differential pay is available.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine building cleaning and general labor tasks, including scrubbing, mopping, waxing, sweeping, and polishing floors.
• Use manual and mechanized cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners and floor cleaners.
• Dust and polish furniture; wash windows, blinds, woodwork, toilets, washrooms, and fixtures.
• Clean high areas such as ceiling light fixtures and room ventilation apparatus.
• Move desks, chairs, and other furniture or equipment as directed; prepare facilities for events.
• Collect and dispose of paper and rubbish; refill soap, toilet tissue, and paper towel containers.
• Load and unload delivery trucks; transport supplies to designated areas; assist with bulky or heavy items.
• Wash outside windows and maintain outside property by removing trash and refuse.
• Clear snow and salt walkways, driveways, and parking areas using snow removal equipment.
• Perform related work as required.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of custodial methods, materials, and equipment.
• Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions.
• Physical ability to meet job demands, including lifting up to 50 lbs., pushing, pulling, stretching, standing, and walking for extended periods.
• Must successfully complete the E-Verify I-9 process to confirm U.S. work authorization.
• Employment contingent on passing a pre-employment background check, security clearance, and drug test (marijuana use is disqualifying under Federal regulations).

Qualifications

No minimum qualifications required. Previous cleaning or custodial experience is preferred.

Pay

Starting rate: $22.57 per hour.
