AIRFIELD MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR
The Public Works Department seeks a skilled Airfield Maintenance Worker to join our team at the Fulton County Airport. This position requires a High School Diploma or GED, supplemented by vocational or technical training in airfield movement, and two years of experience in landscape maintenance, vehicle maintenance, or equipment operation, with one year of lead or supervisory experience.
About the Role
This role involves performing duties related to airport/airfield maintenance, including maintaining runways, taxiways, and parking lots; repairing and maintaining equipment; and performing preventative maintenance tasks such as replacing filters, cleaning fans, and checking refrigerators. Additional responsibilities include communicating with air traffic control technicians and troubleshooting airfield navigation lights.
Responsibilities
- Maintain airfield runways, taxiways, and parking lots using hand and power tools.
- Repair and maintain airport equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks, such as replacing filters, cleaning fans, and checking refrigerators.
- Maintain and repair Runway End Identifier Lights (REIL).
- Communicate with air traffic control technicians via two-way radio while working around moving aircraft.
- Perform runway, taxiway, and ramp maintenance.
- Operate and troubleshoot the medium and high intensities of the airfield navigational light system.
Requirements
- A valid Georgia Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) including appropriate endorsements within 6 months of employment.
- An Airfield Certification to be obtained within three (3) months of employment.

- Proficiency in performance of essential functions and ability to learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures.
Skills
- Ability to operate and maneuver equipment, machinery, tools, and materials.
- Ability to communicate with air traffic control technicians via two-way radio.
- Ability to troubleshoot and maintain airfield navigational light systems.
