Airbus Helicopters is seeking an Aircraft Technician B (Contract) to join the Paint team in Columbus, MS. This role involves surface preparation, taping of components, and painting/priming of aircraft and subassemblies.

About the role

You will be part of a team focused on quality, productivity, and efficiency in helicopter manufacturing and assembly. The Columbus facility produces UH-72A Lakota Helicopters for the U.S. Army and H-125 aircraft for civil and commercial customers.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare surfaces for painting by sanding, masking, filling, and washing.
  • Perform taping of surfaces and areas where paint will not be applied.
  • Maintain minimal scrap levels.
  • Maintain shop cleanliness by sweeping, vacuuming, and wiping down as directed.

Requirements

  • Minimum of six (6) months of related experience in surface preparation for paint or painting of industrial, automotive, or aviation products.
  • Ability to follow directives for surface preparation and layout taping.
  • Aviation-related paint experience preferred but not required.

  • Onsite: 100%
  • Vision: Ability to see and read computer screens, documents, reports, and engineering drawings.
  • Hearing: Ability to participate in conversations and hear production floor sounds, including safety warnings.
  • Speaking: Ability to communicate in conversations and meetings.
  • Equipment Operation: Ability to operate office equipment and production tools, including hydraulic lifts.
  • Carrying: Ability to carry documents, tools, and equipment up to 30 lbs/14 kg.
  • Lifting: Ability to lift documents, tools, and equipment up to 30 lbs/14 kg.
  • Pushing/Pulling: Ability to push and pull small office furniture and tools.
  • Sitting: Ability to sit for extended periods during meetings or computer work.
  • Squatting/Kneeling: Ability to squat or kneel for tasks such as retrieving items or taping components.
  • Standing: Ability to stand for discussions or while working on aircraft.
  • Walking: Ability to walk through office and production areas, including uneven surfaces.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required: Safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators/masks, and/or protective gloves as required by site or customer.
