About the role

Join Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems as an Aircraft Structures Mechanic (Entry Level or Level 1) supporting our Manufacturing Operations Organization. This hands-on role demands great attention to detail, a focus on quality, and strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints
  • Translate blueprints into fabrications of structural assemblies, including precision drilling, countersinking, and use of calibrated tools
  • Align parts on jigs using templates and fixtures
  • Perform part-fitting operations: filing, sawing, burring, crimping, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling, and reaming
  • Measure parts with precision tools such as micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions
  • Modify incomplete and complete assemblies to incorporate structural changes and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures
  • Use manufacturing shop controls and systems daily
  • Wear appropriate PPE while working on the shop floor
  • Recommend and implement continuous improvement activities in production methods, equipment performance, and team effectiveness

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • For Entry Level: Minimum of 3 months’ structures/sheet metal experience in aerospace, automotive, military, manufacturing, or maintenance environments OR completion of Aircraft Fabrication courses with a minimum 3.0 GPA OR A&P certificate program
  • For Level 1: Minimum of 9 months’ structures/sheet metal experience in aerospace, automotive, military, manufacturing, or maintenance environments OR completion of Aircraft Fabrication courses with a minimum 3.0 GPA OR A&P certificate program
  • Ability to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work, including bending, stooping, kneeling, standing, walking, squatting, crawling, twisting, carrying tools, lifting up to 35 pounds, and working with arms overhead
  • Ability to access small, confined spaces and work in enclosed environments
  • Pass medical/respiratory evaluation to obtain and maintain respirator clearance
  • Pass a New Hire Physical prior to starting
  • Ability to work 1st shift (5:00 AM – 3:30 PM) or 2nd shift (4:12 PM – 2:42 AM), including any work schedule
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Government Secret or Top-Secret clearance, as well as Program Special access
  • U.S. citizenship required for clearance
  • Basic computer skills, including navigating Windows operating systems, accessing online training modules, and learning on-the-job software
  • Successfully complete and pass the “ASTAR New Hire Training / Compliance” within a reasonable period

Preferred Qualifications

  • Structures/sheet metal experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment
  • Completion of an A&P certificate program
  • Active Government Secret Clearance with a background investigation completed within the last six years

Pay

Primary Level Salary Range: $25.00 - $28.25 per hour. Base salary offers consider scope, responsibilities, candidate experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Eligible employees may receive overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and company results. Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.

Schedule

  • 1st shift: 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM
  • 2nd shift: 4:12 PM – 2:42 AM
  • Flexibility to work any schedule as required
