Aircraft Quality Inspector (Multiple Shifts)
About the role
The Aircraft Quality Inspector role at Airbus is based in Mobile, AL. You will be part of a team responsible for executing and confirming quality inspections as part of the production process, focusing on aircraft structure and mechanical systems.
Responsibilities
- Execute technical inspections in the production process of the aircraft in the context of the authorization of manufacturer operation
- Prepare and perform visual, incoming, first article, final inspections during aircraft manufacture for compliance with design specifications, customers and certification requirements
- Document the technical inspections performed in the multiple production orders SAP-based and the relevant SAL-based IT systems by inspection marks and complete other aircraft documents as well as prepare first article inspection reports
- Support troubleshooting, Functional Test Procedures (FTPs) and participate in Quality Survey requests
- Compile all technical data of non-conformance in order to launch the NCMS-based quality discrepancy sheets for the professional assessment in accordance with the manufacturing engineering documentation
- Document all the results of the technical inspector in the FLEXNET/NCMS/SAP based IT system
- Aim to attain skills to perform audits of Non-Conformance Rework Orders as part of the Material Review Board (MRB)
- Perform audits/reviews of workbooks to validate PV approval and process adherence
- Track and maintain components during the Non Conformance process
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Fully licensed FAA Airframe & Powerplant License including inspection authorization is preferred
- 3 years of experience as a Quality Inspector in an aviation company with an emphasis on mechanical and/or structural components and assemblies
- Previous experience in a mechanic or technician role is highly desirable
- Airline experience is desirable
Qualifications
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems
- Knowledge of drawing systems, inspection plans, and inspection coordination
- Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods and tools used in the production line
- Handling and use of inspection tools of the length measuring techniques (mechanical, optical, electrical)
