Aircraft Painter

About the role

The Fountain Group is seeking an Aircraft Painter for a client in San Antonio, TX. This is a 6+ month contract position with possible extension or conversion based on performance and budget.

Responsibilities

• Coat surface of aircraft with paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin or other material using brushes, rollers, spray guns and other devices
• Remove old paint from aircraft using liquid paint remover and scraper
• Smooth surface with sandpaper and steel wool
• Roughen aluminum surfaces with acid solution and steel wool to ensure paint adheres to surface
• Mask and cover portions of surfaces not to be painted
• Paint insignia, letters or numerals on aircraft surface using stencils

Basic qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in the position responsibilities listed above
• 5+ years' hands on experience sanding, taping, mixing material, and the application of paint

Preferred qualifications

• Ability to work rotating shift
• 5+ years' experience working on military and commercial platforms
• 5+ years' experience working with hazardous chemicals
• Experience working from heights and using fall protection equipment
• Ability to complete Fall Protection training

Physical requirements

• Ability to ascend and descend vertical work ladders
• Ability to work in confined spaces
• Ability to lift loads of approximately 35 pounds (occasional 2-person lift for weights greater than 50 lbs)
• Exposure to noise and working on elevated platforms
• Use personal protective gear for face, eyes, ears, hand, and arms as required
• Pass visual acuity and color perception tests
• Read, write, and comprehend the English language
• Handle, use, and dispose of hazardous material
• Obtain and maintain training certifications as required
• Occasional finger manipulation (1 to 3 hrs)
• Frequent reaching overhead (3 to 6 hrs)
• Frequent walking on flat surfaces
• Frequent standing on flat or uneven surfaces
• Frequent balancing on a ladder, steps, or uneven surfaces
• Occasional climbing on 3-12 ft ladders or stands
• Rotation of head/neck, sitting, crawling, squatting, bend/stoop, lying down, and operating foot controls for extended periods
• Occasional contact with metals
• Frequent exposure to noise

Pay

$33 - $38/hr. on W2.

100% onsite in San Antonio, TX 78226. Duration: 6+ months, with possible extension/conversion based on performance and budget.
