About the role
As a Paint Technician at DAS Aviation, each day will bring new experiences and opportunities for growth. You will need a basic to advanced knowledge of aircraft refinishing, understanding of PDS Sheets, and compliance with paint procedures and techniques.
Responsibilities
- Understand and comprehend PDS Sheets, mix ratios for all materials that will be used.
- Spray Single Stage, Basecoat, Clearcoat, Primer, Anti-static, and Sealers.
- Understand the functions of a spray gun and how to adjust for different materials.
- Pass Respirator Fit Test and Medical Eval (Full face or Half face).
- Maintenance, cleaning, and repair of shop facilities, equipment, and tooling when required.
- Safely operate shop equipment such as Paint Booth, Prep deck, and basic computer systems for electronic training, manuals, maintenance databases, and color-matching paint computer and camera.
- Effectively and clearly communicate (speak, write, read) in English.
- Perform any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
- Travel to customer hangars to perform paint work as needed.
- Attend work every day as scheduled; opportunities to work overtime as workflow permits.
- Notify the supervisor in advance if unable to work at the start of a shift.
- Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
- Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
- Maintain customer-oriented work habits.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport (ideal but not mandatory).
- Knowledge of paint processes, including mixing materials, color camera, mixing computer, paint gun operation, paint booth operations, prep deck operations, and blending of Single Stage and Clearcoat.
- Self-motivated and able to perform in a fast-paced environment with specific deadlines and time constraints.
- Reliable transportation to get to work every day.
Physical Requirements
- Lift 50 lbs.
- Routine walking, bending, squatting, or sitting.
- Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.
- Climb ladders and stairs; work in small restricted areas.
- Stand for long periods of time.
- Wear a respirator and PPE as required for the job function.
Mental Requirements
- Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines.
- Work with others in a professional manner.
Supervision
Work under the supervision of an assigned Team Leader.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed in controlled environments in industrial warehouses.
- Some travel work that may take place in aircraft hangars.
