About the Role

The Aircraft Mechanic I/Crewmember coordinates with other crewmembers to assess aircraft parts and plans servicing duties. They must meet AR 95-20 qualifications and participate in Hazardous Flight duties.

Responsibilities

  • Services, repairs, and overhauls aircraft and aircraft engines to ensure airworthiness.
  • Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures (e.g., wings, fuselage) and functional components, including rigging, surface controls, plumbing, and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brakes, welding equipment, rivet guns, and drills.
  • Reads and interprets manufacturers' and airline maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine feasibility and methods for repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcases, cleaning screens, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes.
  • May service engines and airframe components at line stations, making repairs short of overhaul to maintain aircraft in safe operating condition.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical or Military School Training preferred.
  • Two years of direct experience in aircraft maintenance or Military technical school with an Airframe & Power Plant (A&P) License required.
  • Any combination of education/experience may be substituted for job requirements at the hiring manager’s recommendation and approval of the COO or higher.
  • May require licensure by the Federal Aviation Administration.
