About the role

An Aircraft Mechanic III maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures, structural components and engines of complex to extreme difficulty. Responsibilities include maintaining and repairing aircraft components, applying technical knowledge to restore equipment condition and operation, and leading teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair aircraft components including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical components.
• Apply technical expertise to solve equipment malfunctions and restore equipment condition and operation.
• Interpret technical data such as blueprints or manufacturers' manuals to solve complex problems.
• Make entries in aircraft logs and records and provide guidance and technical expertise to lower-level technicians.
• Service and lubricate aircraft and subsystems.
• Prepare aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks and services.
• Perform scheduled inspections and assist in performing special inspections.
• Perform limited maintenance operational checks and diagnoses and troubleshoot aircraft systems using special tools and test equipment as required.
• Use and perform operator maintenance on tools, special tools and aircraft ground support equipment.
• Solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical data/documentation such as blueprints, manufacturers’ manuals, aircraft Technical Manuals, Maintenance information and Action Messages and all technical guidance provided through government official representatives.

Requirements

• Valid up-to-date A&P license with five years aviation maintenance experience, five years rotary wing aircraft experience, and two years on the assigned MDS.
• Thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, diagnosing problems, repair procedures and replacement of parts.
• Basic knowledge of electrical theory.
• Thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers.
• Working knowledge of making entries in aircraft logbooks & records, military technical publications, and the Army's Unit Level Logistics Aviation Information System, ULLSAE.
• Thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal and structural modification and repair.
• Ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems.
• Detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as cable tensiometers.
• Provide own Tools/Toolbox. Tools must be shadowed in the toolbox and Etched with your PID.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Clearance Requirements: Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI(T1) Public Trust Security Clearance. Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization to work at this facility.

Pay

$49.58/Hr + $9.00/hr H&W
