About the role
The Aircraft Mechanic II – Hydraulics performs KC-135 aircraft maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, modification, and documentation in support of organizational/intermediate/depot-level maintenance requirements at Fairchild AFB, WA with potential TDY support to other KC-135 locations as directed.
Responsibilities
- Perform KC-135 hydraulic, pneumatic, flight control, landing gear, brake, and related aircraft systems maintenance, troubleshooting, inspection, repair, and documentation.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, replace, service, bleed, rig, and operationally check hydraulic and pneudraulic components and systems.
- Support scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, pre-flight, thru-flight, post-flight, and inspection-related tasks as assigned.
- Interpret and apply technical orders, maintenance manuals, drawings, schematics, work instructions, and other approved technical data.
- Use aircraft maintenance tools, test equipment, pressure servicing equipment, torque wrenches, measuring devices, and other approved equipment as required.
- Document maintenance actions in approved aircraft forms, records, logs, and Government maintenance systems.
- Support aircraft launch, recovery, servicing, and general flightline maintenance tasks as required.
- Comply with Tool Control, FOD prevention, safety, quality, security, and local operating requirements.
- Provide technical guidance or on-the-job training to less experienced mechanics as directed.
- Support TDY maintenance operations at other KC-135 locations as required.
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or the equivalent is required.
- Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of aircraft maintenance experience on an Air Force wide-body platform, preferably KC-135, or equivalent experience is required.
- Aircraft hydraulics, pneumatics, flight controls, landing gear, brake systems, servicing, troubleshooting, repair, and operational check experience is required.
- Experience using aircraft technical orders, maintenance manuals, system schematics, and aircraft maintenance documentation is required.
- A&P certification is preferred but not required.
Qualifications
- Licenses/ Certifications/ Registrations: Must have a valid state driver’s license when required by job assignment. Must be a U.S. citizen. Must possess and maintain a current Secret security clearance. Must be able to obtain and maintain base access, Common Access Card, and required Government system access. Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid U.S. passport and any required visas or travel documentation for CONUS/OCONUS TDY travel, as required by the contract or task order. Must be able to obtain and maintain a flightline driver’s license if required. Must obtain all certifications and training required to perform assigned duties.
Skills
- Working knowledge of aircraft hydraulic and pneudraulic maintenance practices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical data, system schematics, maintenance manuals, and work instructions.
- Ability to prioritize workload and support production schedules.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.
- Ability to work day shift, night shift, weekends, holidays, overtime, or adjusted schedules as required.
- Willingness and ability to travel TDY as required.
