Aircraft Mechanic II - Fuel Systems
Essential Responsibilities
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, overhaul and modify fuel systems.
- Drain fuel from tanks and cells.
- Perform purge operations on cells and tanks.
- Remove, reassemble, and install components.
- Clean and inspect fuel cells.
- Monitor the need for sealants and necessary seals for mission support.
- Inspect and repair aircraft fuel systems.
- Maintain bench stock, shop stock, and Composite Tool Kits (CTK's).
- Perform on and off equipment maintenance, as required.
- Use maintenance instructions and technical data for inspections and maintenance in the repair of aircraft.
- Provide specialized knowledge to accomplish difficult repairs and perform major repairs, as needed.
- Document discrepancies in the applicable form(s) and input data in Maintenance Information Systems.
- Order materials and supplies, as required.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety, housekeeping, tool control, and FOD prevention programs.
Minimum Requirements
- A strong working knowledge of fuel systems maintenance procedures.
- Completion of fuel systems specialized courses.
- A working knowledge of procedures for handling and disposal of hazardous waste materials.
- An Occupational Physical.
- Respirator Training, Fuel Systems Confined Space Entry Training, and CPR training.
- The ability to read and interpret data.
- Physical requirements: occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Effective communication abilities both verbally and in writing.
- A FAA Airframe Certificate/License.
- Able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
- US Citizenship required for clearance.
- Able to obtain and maintain a flightline driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working with fuels, oils, lubricants, chemical cleaners, and solutions.
