Aircraft Mechanic II (Cherry Point, NC)

This position supports the USMC MQ-9 Site Manager with hands-on maintenance, leadership, and training as needed.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and repair power plant malfunctions, including cracked components and oil leaks.
• Diagnose malfunctions, isolate causes, and correct breaks.
• Test engine operations using test equipment to locate sources of malfunctions.
• Replace or repair damaged components and remove/install engines or major components using hoists or lifting devices.
• Disassemble and inspect parts for wear, warping, or defects; repair or replace defective engine components.
• Reassemble and install engines in aircraft.
• Adjust, repair, or replace instruments, ADP flight controls, electrical/electronics, fuel/oil systems, and associated aircraft accessories.
• Perform aircraft services, including engine flushing/cleaning, parts lubrication, and required maintenance checks.
• Specialize in repair and modification of engines, structural components, precision repair, functional spare parts, and assemblies.
• Recommend revisions to maintenance procedures to improve efficiency and ensure quality workmanship.
• Inspect and operate ground support and auxiliary equipment.

Requirements

• Active Secret US Government clearance (US Citizenship required).
• High School Diploma or completion of relevant military and/or vocational technical school curriculum.
• Minimum of three years of actual Aircraft Mechanic maintenance experience.
• Minimum of one year of experience on MQ-9 aircraft as an Aircraft Mechanic.
• Advanced knowledge of basic and complex mechanical maintenance and repair.
• Advanced knowledge of technical publications related to aircraft mechanical maintenance.
• Comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures, and component replacement.
• Thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair.
• Ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems.
• Understanding of theory and principles of operation of engines, accessories, components, theory of flight, and electronic flight controls.
• Knowledge of CNAFINST 4790.2 NAMP and DAFI 21-101.
• Ability to achieve passing grades in required courses/certifications for continued employment.
• Ability to lift, carry, and/or wear military-issued equipment in excess of 50 pounds for extended periods.
• Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.
• Current/active State Issued Driver’s License.
• Ability to acquire and maintain a valid flight-line Government Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree in a relevant career field.
• FAA Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic license.
• Aircraft Mechanic experience within the last 10 years.
• Prior experience as a Defense Contractor.
• MQ-9 Aircraft Composite Repair/Replacement Experience.
• NDI (Non-Destructive Inspection) experience qualified/preferred.

Pay

$39.17 per hour. The compensation range or hourly rate is a good-faith estimate and may vary based on job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
