About the role
The Aircraft Mechanic II supports U.S. Navy Aviation maintenance operations at NAS Oceana Virginia Beach, VA. VFA-106. This role troubleshoots and repairs various aircraft systems, including structure, landing gear, flight surfaces, and controls.
Responsibilities
- Reads and interprets manufacturers' and airline's maintenance manuals to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
- Performs 100-hour, progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections.
- Adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories.
- Performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections.
- Serves as a supervisor, overseeing the jacking and towing of aircraft, entering descriptions of work performed in maintenance records, and verifying work was performed satisfactorily.
- May specialize in work, repair, and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies.
- May specialize in engine repair.
Requirements
- Shift work required, detachments possible.
- Must obtain CDQAR and Aircraft Crew Leader Qualifications within 30 days of promotion/hire date.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Completed Navy Aviation “A” School.
- Completed F/A-18 E-G Initial and Career courses.
- Minimum of five (5) years actual and recent organizational level F/A-18 aircraft experience with 5 years prior F/A-18 A-G Collateral Duty Inspector/Quality Assurance Representative experience or FAA certificate with Airframe & Powerplant ratings and equivalent experience.
Qualifications
- Knowledge and use of special tools/equipment required to perform all assigned maintenance tasks is mandatory.
- Phase Coordinator experience.
- In-depth knowledge of the 4790.2 series (Program enforcement and compliance).
- Able to enforce all Site, Company, and Navy policies and procedures.
- Able to read and interpret technical publications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to meet physical requirements associated with and/or pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks.
- Working knowledge of the Technical Directive program.
- Able to plan, prioritize, and assign tasks/workload to ensure all customer delivery dates and deadlines are met.
- Valid Virginia or North Carolina Drivers License (if North Carolina Resident).
- Able to obtain a T3 Secret Eligible Status.
- Able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.

Pay
$39.46 per hour plus $7.80 per hour, up to 40 hours per week, for Health & Welfare.
