Aircraft Mechanic II

RSi is seeking an Aircraft Mechanic II to support our Army customer at Ft. Benning, GA on the UH60 Program for the US Army Ranger School.

Responsibilities

• Maintains, repairs, and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty.
• Leads teams through more complex aircraft-relevant tasks and makes entries in aircraft logs and records.
• Troubleshoots systems as required to meet customer needs.
• Maintains a high level of cleanliness by utilizing a clean-as-you-go process when executing maintenance duties.
• Performs regular Foreign Object Damage (FOD) walks.
• Complies with processes and procedures per Department of Defense (DoD) documents and publications.
• Uses Government computer systems to access various technical references for repairs and complete training requirements.
• Follows drawings, blueprints, instructions, modification work orders (MWO), and technical manuals.
• Complies with safety rules and regulations while performing day-to-day maintenance.
• Promptly reports all accidents, injuries, safety violations, and unsafe practices or procedures.
• Troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft structures, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulics, engines, auxiliary power unit, ventilation, and heating systems.
• Replaces or repairs worn and damaged components such as alternators, fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, engine-mounted gearboxes, and compressor bleed valves using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment.
• Performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections.

Employees may be assigned to one or more work buckets based on operational need and individual qualifications. Additional duties and requirements may apply depending on assignment, including but not limited to:

• Respirator User/Qualification: Requires successful completion of a respirator medical evaluation, OSHA questionnaire, fit test, and any other medically required screening before assignment and annually thereafter.
• Sheet Metal Qualified: Requires the ability to lay out, fabricate, assemble, repair, and install sheet metal and composite parts and interpret blueprints and technical data.
• Avionics Work: Requires thorough knowledge of aircraft electrical and avionics systems, troubleshooting, repair procedures, and parts replacement.

Candidates will be evaluated for the assignment-specific criteria they are qualified for; final assignment will be based on current business needs, demonstrated experience, and any required certifications, clearances, or medical determinations applicable to the specific assignment.

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience with documented training (by validation of qualifying factors to include documented prior military experience and training) on the Model, Designation, Series (MDS) H60 series, performing maintenance actions, or a current (valid) FAA A&P license and at least one (1) year of documented experience in general aviation.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, make rational decisions, and exercise good judgment.
• Knowledge of military publications (including electronic manuals), drawings, blueprints, microfilm, diagrams, and schematics.

Preferred Qualifications

• Effective oral and technical written communication skills.
• Strong professional customer service skills to include active listening, prompt service, and follow-up while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality.
• Knowledge of equipment related to individual requirements of UH-60.
• Knowledge of military and/or company forms required by work specifications.

Work Environment

• Aircraft areas/hangars, workshops, and other industrial settings.

Physical Requirements

To be performed with or without reasonable accommodation:

• Required to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, crouch, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
• Occasionally lifts objects up to 50 pounds. Most heavy lifting is accomplished using mechanical devices.

• This position is subject to pre-employment drug and alcohol testing, pre-employment physical, and requires the ability to pass Fort Benning Base Access background screening requirements.
