Aircraft Mechanic I (Avionics/Electronics)

Amentum is seeking an Avionics/Electronics Aircraft Mechanic I. US Citizenship is required for facility credentials at the work location.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance checks on aircraft flight controls, stabilization systems, avionics, and controlled cryptographic equipment.
• Maintain common and special tools and equipment.
• Troubleshoot equipment and diagnose repairs.
• Maintain and test avionics and electrical systems, including integration of complex software and hardware such as:
  • Electrical power generation and distribution systems
  • Integrated avionics systems and displays
  • Communication and navigation systems
  • Mission equipment integration
  • Sensors and vehicle health monitoring systems

Requirements

• Valid up-to-date A&P license or:
  • Three (3) years aviation maintenance experience
  • Two (2) years rotary wing aircraft experience
  • Two (2) years on the assigned MDS
  All experience must be within the six (6) most recent years.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
• Must provide own shadowed/etched tools and toolbox.

Skills

• Good communication skills; adaptable and capable of troubleshooting entire aircraft systems.
• Working knowledge of electrical, electronic, mechanical, and associated systems principles.
• Knowledge of Quality Control, Production, and Supply procedures.
• Able to properly use common hand tools, measuring devices (e.g., gauges, torque wrenches, scales), and test/measurement/diagnostic equipment.
• Able to determine when faulty systems or assemblies require repair or replacement of parts and assess the nature/extent of repairs needed.
• Skilled in reading, applying, and interpreting technical data.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

• Must be able to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, crouch, and work in tiring/uncomfortable positions.
• Frequently lift parts and equipment up to 20 pounds; occasionally lift up to 50 pounds (most heavy lifting is assisted by mechanical devices).
• May work in aircraft maintenance hangars or outdoors.
• May be required to respond to operational circumstances including extreme weather and rudimentary infrastructure.
• May be exposed to:
  • Extreme noise from turbine and jet engine aircraft
  • Fumes or airborne particles
  • Electrical shock hazards or moving mechanical parts

Pay

$38.54 per hour. Actual compensation may vary based on job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
