Aircraft Mechanic I (AH-64) - Wheeler AAF, HI - CBA

About the Role

Performs maintenance on AH-64 helicopters, excluding repair of systems, according to drawings, blueprints, directives, technical manuals, and safety procedures. Removes and installs aircraft subsystem assemblies such as engines, rotors, gearboxes, transmissions, mechanical flight controls, and their components. Services and lubricates aircraft and subsystems. Prepares aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks. Performs scheduled inspections and assists in performing special inspections. Performs limited maintenance operational checks and assists in diagnosing and troubleshooting aircraft subsystems using special tools and equipment as required.

• Uses and performs operator maintenance on tools, special tools, and aircraft ground support equipment.
• Prepares forms and records related to aircraft maintenance.
• Removes and disassembles defective parts of the aircraft.
• Maintains supplies and performs preventive maintenance.
• Performs additional duties including maintenance tasks as requested.
• Adheres to company policies and safety programs with a safety-first mentality.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• U.S. military technical school or specialized training course is desired; certification of education level is required.
• Valid up-to-date A&P license (optional).
• Three years of aviation maintenance experience, two years of rotary wing aircraft experience, and two years on the assigned Mission Design Series (MDS). All experience must be within the six most recent years.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Must provide own tools/toolbox. Tools must be shadowed in the toolbox and etched with PID.
• Must be able to work day shift, swing shift, night shift, and/or weekend shift as required.
• Must be eligible to obtain a Passport and able to travel internationally (applicable to OCONUS work sites).
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI(T1) Public Trust Security Clearance.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization; U.S. Citizenship is required.

Skills

• Thorough knowledge of aircraft systems on the assigned MDS.
• Basic knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, hydraulic press machine, and those listed in the assigned MDS Maintenance Allocation Chart (MAC).
• Working knowledge of technical publications and Logistics Information Systems.
• Able to prioritize workloads to maintain schedules on assigned projects.
• Possess the level of experience to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by aircraft mechanic.
• Receives technical guidance from supervisor or higher-level technician; may occasionally lead teams through complex tasks and make entries in aircraft logs and records.

Physical Requirements & Working Environment

• Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods.
• Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
• Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee, and reach above/below shoulders.
• May be required to lift/push/pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to type using a standard keyboard to communicate through email and software applications.
• Will handle dirty parts and lubricants; must wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Must pass a Respirator Physical and Fit Test qualification.
• May operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, forklift, etc.
• May work in maintenance shop or outside in drafty, noisy, and dirty environments.
• May be exposed to extreme noise, electrical shock hazards, or moving mechanical parts/vehicles.
• May work in austere environments and all-weather conditions.

Pay

Hiring hourly rate: $43.96 (Hourly rate set by CBA).
