About the role

The Aircraft Maintenance Crew Chief at Jet Access serves as the central point of accountability for assigned aircraft throughout the entire maintenance lifecycle. This role combines deep technical expertise with project leadership, coordinating technicians, parts procurement, quality assurance, and client communication from aircraft arrival through delivery. The Crew Chief ensures every aircraft receives meticulous care while meeting budget, timeline, and quality commitments that protect the trust of aircraft owners and clients alike.

Responsibilities

• Set clear performance expectations for assigned technicians, communicate budget and timeline standards, and hold the team accountable to quality and productivity targets on every project.
• Assign work strategically based on individual technician strengths and developmental needs, balancing workload to optimize project efficiency and team growth.
• Deliver and document hands-on training to build technical capabilities across the team, providing constructive feedback and mentoring technicians at all experience levels.
• Review technician time entries for accuracy, provide performance input to the Director of Maintenance, and address performance concerns promptly and directly.
• Foster a safe, clean, and organized work environment by maintaining FOD awareness, reinforcing safety protocols, and modeling professional standards.
• Oversee hidden damage inspections and document each aircraft's incoming condition through comprehensive video inspections per company protocols.
• Install aircraft identification systems including red tags, ID sheets, and equipment labels, and implement appropriate protection measures during maintenance.
• Provide accurate aircraft times, cycles, and engine data to the inspection department to support proper maintenance planning.
• Execute inventory management protocols, create complete documentation, and secure keys with recorded locations for every incoming aircraft.
• Collaborate with project managers and the Director of Maintenance on client incoming checklists to capture all critical information including dates, commitments, programs, and squawks.
• Build comprehensive work orders by adding necessary items, researching parts, and obtaining accurate pricing throughout the inspection process.
• Monitor budget performance using Corridor's Work Order Labor Hours report to ensure on-time task completion and project-level cost efficiency.
• Identify and proactively manage long-lead items, coordinating with project managers and the Director of Maintenance to prevent delivery delays.
• Provide daily status updates to project managers covering progress, constraints, concerns, and realistic timeframes for each assigned aircraft.
• Ensure proper work order completion with correct sign-offs, accurate parts documentation, and all entries completed by the appropriate personnel before delivery.
• Facilitate parts ordering through Corridor with complete information including programs, coverage, need-by dates, and warranty status for every part on every project.
• Monitor the Corridor Material Shortage Report regularly and coordinate with the parts department to address critical shortages before they impact delivery timelines.
• Ensure timely core returns through proper tagging to avoid core fees and maintain compliance with all applicable parts programs.
• Verify that all parts are tagged correctly per company repair station manual standards to ensure full compliance and traceability.
• Return unneeded parts immediately to optimize inventory management and improve parts availability across all active projects.
• Coordinate with the Chief Inspector or Lead Inspector for timely inspections and proactively notify leadership of any potential quality issues or escapes.
• Execute pre-delivery planning two to three days prior to each scheduled delivery by updating paperwork and scheduling engine runs, check flights, and detailing.
• Complete pre-delivery checklists and return all client inventory items to ensure every aircraft is fully prepared for client acceptance.
• Collaborate with the inspection department on green tag issuance and return-to-service documentation to meet all regulatory compliance requirements.
• Complete special projects and initiatives as needed, contributing to Jet Access's continued growth and success.

Requirements

• In Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate required.
• Minimum five years of aircraft maintenance experience, with demonstrated technical proficiency across complex airframe and powerplant systems.
• Comprehensive knowledge of aircraft maintenance procedures, documentation standards, and FAA regulatory requirements.
• Experience with maintenance tracking systems and work order management software; proficiency with Corridor or similar MRO platforms preferred.
• Proven ability to manage multiple aircraft projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines, budgets, and quality standards.
• Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy across technical documentation and parts management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to coordinate across departments, project managers, and clients.
• Experience reading and interpreting maintenance manuals, service bulletins, airworthiness directives, and technical documentation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn aviation management software platforms.
• Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment screening.

• This is a fully on-site role; presence on the hangar floor is essential to effective crew leadership and project oversight.
• Physical demands include prolonged standing, walking, bending, and working in and around aircraft in various maintenance configurations.
• Ability to lift and move equipment and parts as required by maintenance tasks, with awareness of safe material handling practices.
• Valid driver's license required for movement of aircraft ground support equipment and vehicles within the facility.
• Occasional evening, weekend, or on-call availability required for AOG events and time-sensitive operational needs.

Skills

• Previous Crew Chief, Lead Technician, or formal supervisory experience in an aviation maintenance environment.
• Demonstrated experience mentoring, training, or developing technicians in a structured maintenance operation.
• Experience managing maintenance projects from arrival through delivery, including client-facing coordination.
• Familiarity with specific aircraft types operated in the Jet Access fleet.
• Background in project management or completion of formal project management training.
• Experience managing maintenance budgets and tracking project-level financial performance.
• Knowledge of common parts programs such as ProParts and CAMP, and experience with warranty claim processes.
• Understanding of lean maintenance principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Track record of on-time aircraft deliveries while sustaining quality standards across a technician team.

Schedule

• Standard schedule is Monday through Friday, on-site, with hours aligned to active maintenance projects and delivery commitments.

• Each day is project-driven: priorities shift based on incoming aircraft, delivery schedules, parts availability, and technician capacity.
• Attendance at Level 10 Meetings and other operational reviews is expected as part of participating in the Jet Access EOS rhythm.
