Aircraft Inspection Supervisor

Joby Aviation is seeking an Aircraft Inspection Supervisor, a highly organized and passionate individual to join our quality assurance team. As the Supervisor, you will provide leadership and training to the Quality Aircraft Inspection Team. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Quality Control, you will coordinate inspection tasks to meet the company's schedule requirements for both Development and Production.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Quality Aircraft Inspection Team Members and oversee overall operations in the area.
• Lead improvement activities for quality, delivery, cost, and safety objectives, supporting continuous improvement through Kaizen.
• Review and/or prepare standardized work procedures and facilitate effective communication of procedures to affected areas.
• Develop training documents and facilitate training; assist in troubleshooting quality issues.
• Manage manpower, including time clock management of hourly employees and control of overtime.
• Successfully lead and function within a team environment, adapting to change.
• Responsible for 5S activities for the assigned area.
• Monitor performance and provide feedback.
• Support company policies and procedures, administering requirements fairly and consistently.
• Ensure compliance with the Joby Production System procedures and train Quality Inspectors on proper procedures.
• Facilitate communication between Production, Engineering, and other departments to establish expectations and resolve problems.
• Coordinate multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Be receptive to training and perform functions in multiple areas.
• Implement and follow up on countermeasure activities related to Production and other operational issues.
• Travel between Joby facilities as needed.
• Maintain safety and address concerns immediately.
• Ensure all safety procedures and practices are implemented and followed.
• Complete all necessary reporting and required paperwork assigned by the Senior Manager, Quality Control.
• Recognize and define problems, collect data, and develop conclusions.
• Communicate effectively using both oral and written communication skills.

Requirements

• FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate.
• Supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the aviation industry, or proven ability to lead people.
• Leadership ability, with the capacity to influence others and make decisions.
• Direct supervisory experience affecting hourly associates.
• Knowledge of quality systems, gauging, and close tolerance measurement.
• Ability to read and follow work instructions, procedures, and policies.
• General understanding and interpretation of blueprints, including tolerance requirements, key, and critical characteristics.
• General understanding of quality assurance systems.
• Solid problem-solving skills using root cause tools.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
• Demonstrated initiative in decision-making to solve problems or reach goals.
• Ability to train others.
• Proficiency with general inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, hole gages, rulers, etc.).
• Adaptability to change and flexibility with new ideas and environments.

• Minimum High School diploma with 10 years in a quality inspection role and an additional 5 years in a leadership/supervisory role.

Qualifications (Desired)

• Three years' experience with aircraft assembly, mechanical assembly, or aircraft structures.
• Ability to use all technical data, aircraft drawings, and manufacturing work instructions to perform inspections.
• Familiarity with paste/secondary bonded structure.
• FAA Inspection Authorization (IA) rating is a plus.

Pay

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $90,100 - $133,300 per year. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
