About the role

As an Engine Detail Inspector, you will perform visual and dimensional inspection on engines, accessories, and related components and parts to determine their condition for return to service in accordance with approved data and customer requirements. You will also cross-train in other complementary skills as needed to support production requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Performs visual and dimensional inspection of products being processed for repair or overhaul to verify conformance to approved data and customer requirements.
  • Determines and documents the modification status/configuration of products being processed for repair or overhaul to verify compliance with applicable regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Ensures products to be inspected are sufficiently clean and in acceptable condition to perform the necessary inspections.
  • Determines the repairability of products not meeting applicable requirements.
  • Records inspection results on appropriate documentation.
  • Generates applicable documentation for the repair of unserviceable products.
  • Inspects and identifies parts in the Reduced to Parts (RTP) process.
  • Performs physical inspection of parts in the Check for Acceptance (C for A) process.
  • Participates in continuous improvement of cell processes.
  • Cross-trains in other complementary skills and seeks endorsements as needed to support production requirements.
  • Moves between production assignments utilizing multiple skills to support production needs.
  • Participates in cross-training other technicians as needed.
  • Observes all applicable safety requirements and reports unsafe practices/conditions immediately.
  • Carries out other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledgeable and proficient in the proper use of precision measuring equipment.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret blueprints.
  • Knowledgeable in identifying and interpreting conditions on products resulting from service operation.
  • Ability to use and interpret publications used in the production process (graphs, charts, schematics, blueprints).
  • Working knowledge of the functions and operation of the products being inspected.
  • Ability to complete the Detail Inspector Training & Development Plan.
  • Prior aircraft engine inspection experience is preferred.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of production management computer systems and related internal control systems.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds (unassisted) for approximately 25% of the average workday.
  • Regularly required to sit for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to work day shift, evening shift, or weekend shift as required.

Schedule

Many shop positions offer a 4-day workweek — 10-hour shifts, typically Monday through Thursday.
