About the Role
The Cargo Office Agent performs computer data entry, prepares flight documents, interfaces with U.S. Customs, and handles import/export documentation. Responsibilities include accepting and distributing cargo in accordance with air carrier and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, generating sales leads, soliciting orders, quoting prices, and preparing sales contracts. Agents also estimate delivery dates, move cargo up to 70 lbs, and comply with WFS site security procedures.
Responsibilities
- Handle the stress of a fast-paced eight-hour shift.
- Drive all cargo handling equipment.
- Prepare documentation prior to flight arrival or departure, review, organize, make copies, and distribute accordingly.
- Travel to the Airport Operational Area (AOA) to meet flights for document retrieval or drop-off.
- Notify brokers or freight forwarders on the Master Airway Bill (MAWB) of shipment arrivals or holds.
- Assist customers retrieving documents and freight.
- Collect appropriate charges and document payment methods.
- Process “Customs Out” (proof of delivery) for every transaction before customer departure.
- Assist in completing MAWBs for over-the-counter shipments.
- Confirm all bookings are accepted and perform TSA mandatory screening.
- Capture AWB information into airline system(s) and manifest flights based on warehouse data.
- Print flight manifest, cargo pallet message, deadload, and NOTOC, then deliver to the aircraft.
- Verify post-flight inventory with documents on hand.
- Maintain files of all pertinent documents and records.
- Prepare reports (Irregularity, Weekly Import/Export Statistics).
- Answer incoming calls and respond to emails.
- Maintain security compliance under Airport Police, TSA, and U.S. regulations.
- Retrieve import and deliver export documents to and from aircraft.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends, holidays, and days off.
Preferred Skills
- Ability to read, write, fluently speak, and understand English.
- Minimum typing speed of 50 WPM.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to learn and apply PC skills.
