Job Summary
The After School Care Assistant supports the mission and values of the Catholic school by providing a safe, nurturing, and faith-filled environment for students during after-school hours. This position supervises school-aged children, assists with organized activities, and promotes positive behavior while ensuring the well-being of all students in care.Job Responsibilities
- Supervise students during after-school care, both indoors and outdoors, ensuring their safety at all times.
- Foster a welcoming, respectful, and positive environment that reflects Catholic values and promotes the dignity of every child.
- Plan, lead, and assist with age-appropriate recreational, educational, and enrichment activities.
- Monitor student behavior and encourage cooperation, kindness, and responsible decision-making.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment in accordance with school policies and procedures.
- Attend to student needs and respond appropriately to minor incidents or emergencies.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents, faculty, and school administration.
- Absorb and maintain accurate attendance records.
- Support school policies and uphold confidentiality regarding students and families.
Job Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework in education, child development, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience working with school-aged children in a childcare, educational, or recreational setting preferred.
- Demonstrated patience, compassion, and a genuine interest in supporting children’s growth and development.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to supervise children in a variety of settings and activities.
- Commitment to supporting the mission and values of Catholic education.
- Ability to work collaboratively with school staff and families.
