Responsibilities
- Aid in implementing behavioral interventions in the classroom and residential setting.
- Respond to student behavior according to established policies, using CPI strategies and de-escalation techniques.
- Apply approved physical interventions when necessary.
- Reinforce positive behaviors and serve as a consistent role model.
- Support teachers by providing instructional assistance and tutoring.
- Develop and assist in maintaining instructional materials and classroom supports.
- Maintain constant supervision of students during daily routines and activities.
- Assist with transporting and supervising students during on- and off-campus activities.
- Plan and facilitate recreational and skill-building activities.
- Engage students in age-appropriate activities, modeling positive behavior.
- Encourage social development, teamwork, and appropriate peer interactions.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment.
- Support students in personal hygiene, housekeeping, and daily living tasks.
- Conduct room and unit searches as assigned.
- Complete required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain knowledge of policies, procedures, and program updates.
- Participate in required trainings and maintain certifications such as CPR and First Aid.
- Cover Aide Behavioral Counselor I responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 0–3 years of relevant experience in human services or youth support.
- An associate’s degree in a human services-related field is preferred.
- A high school diploma or equivalent required (with relevant experience).
- A valid driver’s license is required.
