About the role

Full-time Process Equipment Selection Engineer position available. This role can be performed remotely or with relocation to our Canonsburg, PA office. The position is Exempt, with hours Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of sizing and selection of industrial equipment and instruments for water treatment, be technically proficient with engineering programs, and have experience evaluating quotations and vendor proposals. The candidate should be creative, detail-oriented, possess good communication skills, be team-oriented, have excellent problem-solving skills, and be customer service-focused.

Responsibilities

  • Review Aquatech standard specifications and project-specific, customer specifications, noting non-standard requirements.
  • Check process calculations and pump capacities for various types types of pumps, such as metering and centrifugal pumps.
  • Size, select, and prepare data sheets for equipment including blowers, various types of pumps, tank heaters, mixers, and other vendor packages.
  • Size, select, and prepare data sheets for instruments such as pressure, temperature, flow, and analytical instruments.
  • Size, select, and prepare data sheets for control valves, including ball control valves, globe control valves, butterfly control valves, etc.
  • Prepare datasheets for miscellaneous items such as static mixers, solenoid valves, and valve manifolds.
  • Prepare other documents: instrument list, load list, lube list, requisition attachments, Volume II Index (required for O & M Manuals), commissioning spares, and tag list.
  • Release engineering documents to the Document Control Department per department procedure and release material requisitions through SAP.
  • Communicate internally with all departments and divisions: Mechanical, Electrical, Process Control, Applications, Purchasing, and other domestic and international offices.
  • Interact frequently with vendors and perform technical evaluations of quotes and project budgets.
  • Clarify and resolve shop queries and defect notifications.
  • Approve vendor quotes and drawings, storing them in the network.
  • Perform other miscellaneous engineering duties or responsibilities as assigned to support department or company operations.
  • Meet document submission deadlines as per the project schedule.
  • Revise documents/datasheets according to client/vendor/PMs comments.
  • Evaluate new vendors, including organizing internal/external meetings to determine vendor/equipment suitability with Aquatech standards.
  • Lead vendor design coordination meetings, minute and compile all engineering comments related to equipment approval, and communicate externally.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or related field) from a four-year accredited college or university.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience.

Skills

  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret engineering documents, including P&ID, PFD, and engineering calculations.
  • Effective communication with customers and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to plan and manage multiple tasks or projects with attention to detail.
  • Proficient in computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment and MS Office software.
  • Able to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Strong writing skills for engineering equipment specifications, with attention to detail and good written communication.
  • Prior knowledge of SAP is preferred but not essential.
  • Experience in the project-related industry with technical buying/selling or execution of projects is preferred.

Physical Job Demands
