AI Systems Administrator - Senior
Summary of Job Duties
Under general supervision administers and supports enterprise artificial intelligence platforms, cloud infrastructure, and integration services to ensure the reliable, secure, and compliant operation of AI technologies across the institution.
Responsible for the configuration, deployment, and lifecycle management of AI assistant platforms, AI agent development environments, and model deployment platforms, as well as the underlying cloud infrastructure and enterprise productivity services that support AI workloads.
Manages access controls, licensing, platform integrations, and data connections using identity management, role-based access control, and administrative management tools, ensuring all AI platform configurations adhere to institutional policies and regulatory requirements including HIPAA and FERPA.
Supports the integration of AI platforms with enterprise systems through the administration of API management and integration services, development tooling environments, and source control systems, collaborating with developers and solution architects to maintain secure and well-governed development workflows.
Collaborates with IT Security and data governance administration teams on data classification, data loss prevention policy alignment, and compliance reviews to ensure AI tools and integrations do not expose or improperly process protected information.
Evaluates emerging AI technologies through proof-of-concept testing and vendor assessment, maintains technical documentation and standard operating procedures, and provides guidance and training to end users and IT personnel to promote effective and responsible use of AI tools in alignment with the institution's Enterprise AI Strategy.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in computer science or related field of study with 2 years of progressively responsible experience in IT systems administration, including demonstrated experience with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 platform administration, working knowledge of AI/ML concepts, large language model (LLM) platforms, and enterprise AI tooling, and experience with API integration, source control systems, and development workflows.
- OR Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field of study with 4 years of progressively responsible experience in IT systems administration, including demonstrated experience with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 platform administration, working knowledge of AI/ML concepts, large language model (LLM) platforms, and enterprise AI tooling, and experience with API integration, source control systems, and development workflows.
- OR Associate degree in Computer Science or related field of study with 6 years of progressively responsible experience in IT systems administration, including demonstrated experience with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 platform administration, working knowledge of AI/ML concepts, large language model (LLM) platforms, and enterprise AI tooling, and experience with API integration, source control systems, and development workflows.
- OR High School/GED with 10 years of progressively responsible experience in IT systems administration, including demonstrated experience with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 platform administration, working knowledge of AI/ML concepts, large language model (LLM) platforms, and enterprise AI tooling, and experience with API integration, source control systems, and development workflows.
- Required to be on-call and to respond immediately to trouble calls outside of general work hours.
- Work occasionally may require in excess of eight hours per day.
- Workload pressure will regularly subject incumbent to moderate to high job-related stress.
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft certifications (AZ-900, AZ-104, MS-102, AI-102 or equivalent)
- Experience administering Azure AI Foundry, Copilot Studio, or similar AI development platforms.
- Knowledge of healthcare IT environments, HIPAA compliance, and data governance.
- Experience with GitHub, VS Code, Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, and CI/CD pipeline management
