AI Staff Scientist

The Role

The AI Staff Scientist collaborates with innovative 3Mers around the world, providing opportunities to transition from various backgrounds to a 3M career. This role focuses on developing foundational methods for always-on learning systems that reason, experiment, and adapt in complex, non-stationary environments.

Impact

• Develop computational symbolic representation systems for general use
• Design, implement, and maintain research code for a language interface for computational symbolic representation systems
• Work from whiteboards, research discussions, and evolving specifications
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary researchers to stress-test experimental learning mechanisms under realistic, adversarial conditions

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Informatics, Cognitive Science, or a related field from an accredited institution
• Five (5) years of experience with Artificial Intelligence
• Experience working in startup environments

Location and Travel

• Work location: Remote in the United States
• Travel: up to 20% domestic travel
