Job Description:Boston Globe Media Partners is looking for an AI Solutions Specialist to build and maintain the AI-powered workflows that serve our newsrooms and business teams. This person will connect internal databases to LLMs, build agent workflows, write production prompts, and stand up the integrations that make AI tools useful across the organization without requiring dedicated engineering capacity.This is a hands-on building role. You will spend your time creating working solutions. The right candidate knows their way around modern AI tools, can ship things quickly, and is comfortable working across a wide range of use cases, from editorial automation to business process improvement.Responsibilities:Build AI Workflows and IntegrationsConnect internal databases, content systems, and business tools to LLMs to create useful, repeatable workflowsBuild and maintain agent-based workflows that automate or augment manual processes (e.g., metadata population, content tagging, research synthesis, sales prospecting)Write and maintain production-quality prompts for specific use cases across editorial, sales, HR, finance, and operationsStand up integrations between AI platforms and existing tools (Arc XP, WordPress, CRM systems, internal databases) without requiring engineering sprintsSupport Enablement EffortsSupport the Enablement Lead in training and onboarding teams on new AI tools and workflowsCreate and maintain documentation for all deployed AI workflows and toolsProvide hands-on technical support when teams encounter issues with AI tools or need help adapting workflows to new use casesTool AdministrationHelp manage the company's AI tool stack (ChatGPT Enterprise, Elvex, Arc AI, ElevenLabs, and others as they emerge)Monitor usage, track costs, and flag optimization opportunitiesSupport rollout and onboarding of new AI tools to specific teamsQualifications: Deep, practical familiarity with LLMs and AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or similar). You should be someone who builds with these tools dailyExperience working in a news organization, preferably in a newsroom, with a deep understanding of editorial workflows, standards, and practices. Must be able to recognize what makes a strong piece of editorial content and hold your own output to newsroom standards, so the work you ship to newsrooms is usable without rounds of editorial rework.Ability to connect APIs, work with databases, and build lightweight integrations. You do not need to be a software engineer, but you should be comfortable working with APIs, and using no-code/low-code platforms to get things done.Experience writing production prompts and building agent workflows (e.g., using tools like LangChain, custom GPTs, Claude projects, or similar)Strong communication skills and the patience to work with people across a wide range of technical comfort levelsBias toward action. This is a new function and you will need to figure things out as you go.1-2 years of relevant experience. Could come from journalism, product, operations, data, or a technical role where you have been the person building AI solutions for others.A willingness to adapt and be audience focused, with a curious mindset and a commitment to creating an inclusive work environment Nice to HaveExperience in a newsroom or media organizationFamiliarity with CMS platforms (Arc XP, WordPress)Python, JavaScript, or SQL proficiencyExperience with vector databases, RAG architectures, or similar retrieval patternsUnderstanding of editorial workflows, content publishing, and audience developmentThe BGMP office is located in downtown Boston, near Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market, and is easily accessible by MBTA and commuter rail lines. This position is based in Boston, and candidates should be based in the area or willing to move.This is a temporary position anticipated to last 6 months with the possibility for extension.The hourly rate for this role is $35.00 - $45.00.This range reflects the band for this role. We are committed to fair and market-informed compensation. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates could be hired within the midpoint of the range. Compensation for the successful candidate will be informed by their particular combination of skills, experience, and qualifications.
