About the role
NXP’s Intellectual Property (IP) team is seeking a highly motivated intern to develop an AI-powered Copilot agent that guides inventors through the structured process of creating high-quality invention disclosures.
Responsibilities
- Translate NXP’s invention disclosure templates and best practices into a deterministic, step-by-step AI workflow
- Improve clarity, completeness, and patent readiness of submitted inventions
- Work closely with the IP team to understand how ideas evolve into patents and business assets at NXP
- Design and deploy an AI-driven Copilot agent that fundamentally improves how engineers articulate inventions
- Directly impact patent quality, IP strategy, and business value
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- Strong understanding of AI/LLMs and agent-based workflows
- Experience with: Python or JavaScript, Microsoft 365 tools (Word, Excel, Teams)
- Strong problem-solving and structured thinking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Curiosity and desire to learn new skills
Qualifications
- Preferred qualifications include experience with: Microsoft Copilot Studio or conversational AI platforms, Prompt engineering and LLM evaluation, Workflow automation tools (e.g., Power Automate), and interest in intellectual property, patents, or innovation processes
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
