About the role
The Office of Responsible AI (ORAI) at the University of Arizona is looking for an AI Research Scientist. This position will lead the development, oversight, and management of AI/ML and data science training initiatives across the University of Arizona. The incumbent will work onsite at the University of Arizona serving as a technical leader and consultant by developing predictive models, operationalizing generative AI frameworks, and applying advanced NLP and unstructured text analytics to extract strategic insights from complex datasets.
Responsibilities
- Develop predictive models and operationalize generative AI frameworks
- Apply advanced NLP and unstructured text analytics to extract strategic insights from complex datasets
- Lead the development, oversight, and management of AI/ML and data science training initiatives across the University of Arizona
- Serve as a technical leader and consultant in AI/ML and data science projects
Requirements
- PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related field
- Experience in developing and deploying machine learning models
- Experience with natural language processing and unstructured text analytics
- Strong programming skills in Python/R
- Experience with data science tools and platforms such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, etc.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Qualifications
- Expertise in machine learning and data science
- Experience with AI/ML frameworks and tools
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Skills
- Advanced knowledge of machine learning algorithms
- Experience with data preprocessing and feature engineering
