AI Product Development Intern

About the Role

Synoptek provides world-class strategic IT leadership and hyper-efficient IT operational support, enabling our global client-base to grow and transform their businesses. The AI Product Development Intern supports Synoptek's AI product initiative by contributing to the design, development, and iteration of AI-powered software solutions. This role partners with a small product and engineering team to translate early-stage concepts into functional, production-minded capabilities while operating within enterprise security, reliability, and governance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to end-to-end AI product development activities including ideation, technical design, implementation, testing, and iteration
• Develop, experiment with, and evaluate AI workflows using large language models, agents, retrieval techniques, and orchestration patterns
• Implement backend and/or frontend software features aligned with product priorities and technical direction
• Translate product requirements into user stories, prototypes, and functional deliverables
• Incorporate enterprise considerations such as data security, access controls, auditability, reliability, and user workflows into solution design
• Document technical decisions, tradeoffs, evaluation outcomes, and delivered features to support knowledge sharing and continuity
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and leadership stakeholders in planning, review, and refinement sessions
• Demonstrate ownership of assigned workstreams and deliverables from concept through completion

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field. In lieu of formal education, equivalent hands-on experience through academic projects, startups, internships, or independent development will be considered
• 0 to 3 years of experience
• Strong programming capability in Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript or similar languages
• Familiarity with APIs, web architectures, and basic systems design principles
• Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and developer workflows such as Git and CI/CD fundamentals
• Comfortable operating in a hybrid work environment with minimal supervision

Work is performed through a combination of remote execution and in-person collaboration, including scheduled working sessions, planning meetings, and build/review checkpoints aligned with project needs and academic commitments.
