AI-Native Quality Engineering Manager

About the role

Lead a quality engineering organization as it transitions to AI-assisted testing and modern automation practices in a remote SaaS/product environment, partnering closely with engineering and product teams to improve release confidence, quality metrics, and delivery outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of Quality Engineers, Automation Engineers, and Testers while maintaining a hands‑on, player‑coach approach.
• Drive adoption of AI‑assisted testing practices and help establish standards for effective, responsible AI usage in quality engineering.
• Improve and scale automated testing frameworks across API, UI, integration, and end‑to‑end coverage.
• Partner with Engineering, Product, DevOps, and Release Management to strengthen CI/CD quality gates, release readiness, and defect management.
• Define and track quality metrics (automation reliability, defect trends, regression effectiveness, and release health) to guide continuous improvement.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in QA, Quality Engineering, or Test Automation with strong hands‑on automation expertise.
• 2+ years of people leadership experience, including experience managing larger QA organizations (ideally 15+ team members).
• Experience with modern test strategies across API, UI, integration, and end‑to‑end testing, including leading automation strategy and framework improvements.
• Strong understanding of Agile, CI/CD, and modern software delivery practices with proven stakeholder communication and mentorship capabilities.
• Experience using AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, Cursor, or Azure OpenAI) to improve testing outcomes and ability to coach teams on effective AI usage.
