About The Role

We are seeking a talented and driven Founding Member of Technical Staff to join our dynamic team. In this hybrid role, you will serve as both a Data Scientist and Machine Learning Engineer, playing a critical part in designing, building, and deploying sophisticated AI systems that power our products. Reporting directly to Dan Wald, Co-Founder & CAIO, you will be instrumental in shaping the technical direction of our AI initiatives. Your responsibilities will span the entire spectrum of applied AI—from developing innovative models to deploying scalable, reliable systems in cloud environments. As one of the earliest technical hires, you will have the unique opportunity to influence our AI strategy, establish best practices, and set standards for the organization’s technological growth. Collaboration with cross-functional teams—including data engineers, product managers, backend engineers, and customer-facing teams—will be essential to ensure our AI solutions deliver tangible business value in real-world applications.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, develop, and deploy machine learning and generative AI products on cloud platforms such as AWS or equivalent.
  • Design and implement end-to-end AI workflows, including data ingestion, feature engineering, modeling, evaluation, and deployment.
  • Create automated pipelines to facilitate continuous learning, model promotion, and performance monitoring.
  • Lead the design of ML orchestration frameworks to ensure reproducibility, scalability, and robustness of AI systems.
  • Oversee the deployment and management of large-scale, multi-agent AI systems with high reliability and fault tolerance.
  • Optimize workflows continuously for efficiency, robustness, and performance in production environments.
  • Translate complex business challenges into effective AI solutions through data collection, experimentation, and strategic planning.
  • Develop interpretable, modular, and scalable ML systems that deliver measurable business impact.
  • Collaborate directly with customers and stakeholders to ensure AI solutions meet their needs and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Stay current with advancements in AI/ML technologies, including LLMs, diffusion models, graph AI, and agent architectures.
  • Propose and prototype innovative approaches to incorporate emerging AI technologies into existing products and workflows.
  • Develop metrics and communication strategies to quantify AI performance and demonstrate business ROI.
  • Promote responsible, ethical, and impactful AI practices across the organization, fostering a culture of innovation and integrity.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in launching AI/ML products into production environments.
  • Proficiency with core machine learning and AI tools such as Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow/Keras, scikit-learn, SQL, and Spark.
  • Hands-on experience with large-scale ML systems, including generative AI (LLMs, diffusion models), agent architectures, and graph-based models.
  • Strong knowledge of designing and managing ML orchestration workflows and versioned pipelines using tools like Airflow, ZenML, Kedro, or similar.
  • Excellent programming skills in production-grade Python, with a focus on object-oriented and functional programming paradigms.
  • Experience deploying multi-agent AI systems with high reliability and fault tolerance.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and a proactive “hacker” mentality.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated thought leadership and innovation in applied AI, with a focus on responsible and ethical AI practices.

Benefits

  • Opportunity to work at the forefront of AI innovation within a fast-growing startup environment.
  • Collaborative and inclusive company culture that values diversity and inclusion.
  • Competitive salary and equity options.
  • Flexible hybrid work model based in New York City, with options for remote work across the U.S. (monthly travel to NYC required).
  • Professional development opportunities and access to cutting-edge AI tools and technologies.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance plans.
  • Paid time off and holidays to support work-life balance.
  • Participation in shaping the future of AI solutions for the consumer goods industry.
