AI/ML Engineer and Data Scientist
About the role
As a data scientist at Booz Allen, you’ll help turn complex data sets into useful information to solve global challenges across private and public sectors—from fraud detection to cancer research to national intelligence. You’ll use your leadership skills and data science expertise to create real-world impact by working closely with clients to understand their questions and needs, then digging into their data-rich environments to find the pieces of their information puzzle. You’ll guide teammates and lead the development of algorithms and systems, using the right combination of tools and frameworks to turn disparate data points into objective answers that advise clients as they make informed decisions.
Responsibilities
- Lead data science initiatives to address client needs and solve complex challenges
- Develop algorithms and systems for data analysis and predictive modeling
- Perform data exploration, cleaning, analysis, visualization, and mining
- Create predictive data models, quantitative analyses, and visualizations of targeted data sources
- Apply natural language processing, text mining, or machine learning techniques
- Integrate enterprise systems such as Jira, Confluence, APIs, or in-house platforms
- Utilize REST APIs, webhooks, and automation middleware
- Provide deep understanding of data, interpret its meaning, and demonstrate how it can be used
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience with statistical and general-purpose programming languages for data analysis
- 3+ years of experience analyzing structured and unstructured data sources
- Experience with data exploration, cleaning, analysis, visualization, or mining
- Experience developing predictive data models and quantitative analyses
- Experience with natural language processing, text mining, or machine learning techniques
- Experience with REST APIs, webhooks, and automation middleware
- Experience integrating enterprise systems such as Jira, Confluence, APIs, or in-house platforms
- Knowledge of AI and ML workflows leveraging existing tools
- Active TS/SCI clearance
- Bachelor’s degree
Nice to Have
- Experience developing algorithms using CDS, GitLab, CI/CD, Argo CD, R, Python, SQL, or NoSQL
- Experience with distributed data and computing tools such as MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive, EMR, Kafka, Spark, Gurobi, or MySQL
- Experience with visualization packages such as Palantir, Plotly, Seaborn, or ggplot2
- Master’s degree

Pay
The projected compensation range for this position is $99,000.00 to $225,000.00 (annualized USD). Salary is determined by various factors including location, education, skills, competencies, experience, contract-specific affordability, and organizational requirements.
Schedule
This posting will close within 90 days from the posting date. Work models include:
- Remote: Primarily remote work, with occasional in-person requirements at a Booz Allen or customer facility.
- Hybrid: Frequent work from a Booz Allen facility, with potential visits to customer facilities as needed.
- Onsite: Work primarily performed at a Booz Allen office or customer facility, collaborating directly with colleagues and customers.
For virtual work, employees are generally expected to have their cameras on during meetings to support engagement and effective communication.
