About the Role
Join a forward-thinking team focused on advancing AI-driven development within a regulated environment. This role involves owning secure, cloud-based AI agent development environments, building MCP server integrations, and creating comprehensive documentation to support AI-assisted workflows in a CJIS-compliant setting. You will collaborate closely with engineering and product teams to enhance internal tools and customer-facing AI features, ensuring security, observability, and regulatory adherence.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain secure, cloud-based development environments that enable AI agents to execute test suites, run builds, and inspect results safely, respecting CJIS, FedRAMP, and data handling standards.
- Develop and implement MCP server integrations connecting AI agents to systems such as Azure DevOps, GitHub, Jira, and CI/CD pipelines to facilitate software build, test, and delivery processes.
- Own and update agent guidance documentation, including repo-wide guidelines and context files, ensuring accessibility of conventions, architecture, and domain knowledge to AI agents.
- Build and curate a library of reusable agent skills, prompts, and orchestration patterns aligned with product domains like corrections, jail management, licensing, and offender self-service, as well as engineering tasks such as code generation and review.
- Collaborate with engineering, QA, product managers, and security teams to identify AI workflow challenges, improve tooling, and develop low-friction contributions from non-engineers.
- Partner with product teams to integrate AI capabilities into customer-facing products, ensuring secure, observable, and standards-compliant AI features.
- Stay current with AI productivity tooling, agent frameworks, and developer experience trends, piloting promising approaches to create measurable value.
- Implement guardrails, evaluation harnesses, and review processes to ensure AI-generated code and contributions meet quality, security, accessibility, and regulatory standards.
- Work cross-functionally with leadership, security, and customer success teams to align AI initiatives with governance policies and strategic objectives.
- Define and report on metrics such as agent task success rates, developer time savings, and defect rates to inform continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 1–2 years working with AI coding agents and AI-assisted workflows.
- Strong proficiency in C# / .NET ecosystem (ASP.NET Core, Blazor, Entity Framework) and Azure DevOps.
- Hands-on experience with AI coding agents such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar.
- Demonstrated ability to write effective agent documentation, custom instructions, and context files.
- Experience building developer tools, internal platforms, or infrastructure used by engineering teams.
- Knowledge of secure software development practices, secrets management, and supply chain security, especially within CJIS and public sector contexts.
- Familiarity with containerized environments (Docker, dev containers, ephemeral cloud environments).
- Eligibility to obtain CJIS clearance and pass background checks.
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills, capable of translating complex concepts for diverse stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft / .NET technologies beyond core frameworks.
- Familiarity with agent frameworks, MCP-style integrations, or custom AI tooling.
- Knowledge of responsible AI principles, including bias, security, privacy, and compliance standards such as NIST AI RMF or EU AI Act.
- Experience working in regulated environments with strict data handling and security requirements.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-priority setting, with strong organizational skills.
