AI Engineer, Sr. (Remote)
About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Distinguished Engineer, AI Compute, to join our remote-eligible team. This role is pivotal in engineering and scaling foundational AI compute capabilities across our cloud-based enterprise platform.
As a technical leader, you will leverage your expertise in distributed systems to develop high-performance, highly available, and secure compute infrastructure that supports a wide array of AI workloads. Your work will enable everything from developer notebooks to large-scale model training, inference, and feature generation pipelines, including transformer-based models and generative AI applications.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, guide technical projects, and contribute to the evolution of our AI infrastructure, ensuring it remains scalable, efficient, and aligned with our strategic goals.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields plus at least 10 years of experience in AI/ML algorithm development or technologies, or a Master’s degree in the same fields plus at least 8 years of relevant experience
- Minimum of 10 years of programming experience with Python, Go, Scala, or Java
- Strong understanding of distributed compute frameworks such as Spark, Dask, Ray, or Flink
- Experience with building and scaling large AI/ML infrastructure, including LLM training, fine-tuning, and high-throughput inference
- Proficiency with container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes) and serverless environments (e.g., AWS Lambda)
- Deep knowledge of AI workloads, system internals, and performance optimization techniques
- Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills
Responsibilities
- Design and implement control and data plane components to realize a highly available, multi-tenant, secure AI platform at scale
- Develop distributed compute engine solutions using Ray, Spark, or similar frameworks to accelerate diverse AI workloads
- Optimize compute resource utilization and cost-efficiency, including leveraging AWS primitives and cost-optimization strategies
- Lead systemic improvements to operational workflows, automating routine tasks to ensure operational excellence
- Manage and execute multiple technical projects, collaborating with developers across microservices, model training, and inference domains
- Partner with product, program management, and stakeholders to align technical solutions with business objectives
- Stay current with emerging AI and distributed systems technologies, leading internal and external knowledge-sharing initiatives
- Mentor internal talent, foster a culture of innovation, and actively participate in recruiting efforts to build a strong engineering community
