About the role

Carnegie Mellon University is shaping the field of artificial intelligence and needs someone to help faculty, staff, and students use AI tools effectively. You’ll partner with teams across the university to uncover where AI can make a real difference, then help them adopt these tools through training, consultation, and hands-on support. This role bridges the gap between cutting-edge research and practical, everyday use.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of the AI Enablement Team to shape and communicate the vision for AI services across the university.
  • Spend most of your time working directly with campus partners, leading discovery sessions to identify AI opportunities.
  • Discover and evaluate new AI tools, document workflows, and guide teams through adoption.
  • Become the go-to expert on AI tools available to the CMU community, developing training programs, running workshops, and hosting office hours.
  • Mentor colleagues who want to build their AI skills and help them overcome roadblocks—whether technical or conceptual.
  • Build infrastructure for sustainable adoption, including documentation, toolkits, communications, feedback loops, and metrics to track success.
  • Stay connected to the broader AI landscape and bring back insights to improve CMU’s AI initiatives.

Requirements

  • Progressive experience in product or service delivery, ideally in a university or technical environment.
  • Experience supporting AI tool rollouts, adoption efforts, or platform integrations, with a focus on usability and practical impact.
  • Strong communication skills, able to meet people where they are and help them build confidence in AI solutions.
  • Ability to translate technical capabilities into business value and facilitate discovery conversations to surface real needs.
  • Foundational understanding of IT service management (ITIL or similar) and experience gathering business requirements.
  • Certifications in cloud/AI platforms or process improvement methodologies are a plus, but hands-on experience is prioritized.
  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive medical, prescription, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Generous retirement savings program with employer contributions.
  • Tuition remission for employees and dependents.
  • Ample paid time off and observed holidays.
  • Life and accidental death and disability insurance.
  • Free Pittsburgh Regional Transit bus pass.
  • Access to a Family Concierge Team to help navigate childcare needs.
  • Fitness center access and additional wellness perks.

Pay

Salary-based compensation.
