AHMG Cardiothoracic Surgery - Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant First Assist

About the role

AdventHealth Kansas City is seeking an experienced Cardiothoracic Surgery APP to serve as a First Assist in cardiovascular/cardiothoracic surgeries, perform endoscopic vein harvesting, round in hospital pre and post-surgery, and follow-up clinic visits at our AdventHealth Shawnee Mission location.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a First Assist in cardiovascular/cardiothoracic surgeries
• Perform endoscopic vein harvesting
• Round in hospital pre and post-surgery
• Follow-up clinic visits at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Minimum 1–2 years of cardiothoracic or cardiovascular surgery experience (strongly preferred)
• Endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) experience (preferred)

Qualifications

• Minimum 1–2 years of cardiothoracic or cardiovascular surgery experience (strongly preferred)
• Endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) experience (preferred)

Skills

• Strong clinical skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively

Schedule

• Dedicated clinic day per week
• Remainder of the week focused in the OR, supporting a high-volume cardiovascular surgery program
• Shared 1:3 call rotation with week-long (7-day) coverage blocks
• Inpatient management and surgical coverage, with support from a collaborative team
• Predictable rotation structure to support work-life balance
