About the role

The Christ Hospital is seeking a Cardiac Surgery APP to add to our inpatient practice in Cincinnati, OH. The program currently has 7 Cardiac Surgeons, 1 dedicated Thoracic Surgeon, with 10 APPs. Includes weekend and holiday rotations as well as OR call. Call is 1:5 with split OR and clinical weekend coverage. Competitive salary, CME, and PTO.

Responsibilities

  • 3-5 years cardiac surgery first assist experience.
  • Proficient in EVH. Radial artery harvesting is preferred but not required.
  • Able to assist attending surgeon as either a first or second assistant.
  • Participates in fundamental operating room techniques including aseptic technique, tying knots, hemostasis, tissue handling, primary closure of sternotomies, and leg incisions.
  • Comfortable assisting with daily ICU rounds and managing complex ICU patients pre and post operatively.
  • Will help with inpatient consults.
  • Experience with CVICU procedures preferred (central lines, swans, arterial lines, chest tubes, etc).
  • S strong skills and experience in CABG, valve, and aortic surgery, etc.
  • Prior experience with mechanical circulatory support, ECMO, and cardiac transplant preferred.

Requirements

  • Required: Current NCCPA.
  • Current BLS required and ACLS certification required.
  • RAD license required.
  • Certified Nurse Practitioner: Acute Care, Adult, or Family Nurse Practitioner certification verified by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN), American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
  • Current, valid license (registration) by the Ohio Board of Nursing or applicable state board.
  • NP must have First Assist certification.
  • OR Physician Assistant: Graduate from accredited physician assistant program with a Master's Degree.
  • Physician Assistant Certification (verified by the National Commission or the Certification of Physician Assistant – NCCPA. Current, valid license (registration) by the state Medical Board of Ohio or applicable state medical board.
  • Current Certificate to prescribe by the State Medical Board of Ohio.
