About the Role

Innovative Ag Services Co. is seeking an Agronomy Business Development Manager to oversee the sales force in the Southeast Territory, covering Andrew, Cascade, Central City, Farley, and Monticello, Iowa. This role focuses on developing, coaching, and driving the performance of the sales team to achieve maximum profitability and growth in alignment with the company’s vision and mission.

Responsibilities

  • Coach, mentor, train, and develop assigned salespeople to enhance their professional growth.
  • Provide leadership and accountability for economic decision-making within the team.
  • Prepare team and individual action plans to prospect new business and grow existing customer relationships, aligned with departmental sales and marketing strategies.
  • Assist in developing and implementing marketing plans as needed.
  • Conduct one-on-one reviews with salespeople to identify training and professional development needs.
  • Improve individual sales skills, financial acumen, and overall performance through targeted coaching.
  • Provide timely feedback to senior management on individual and team performance.
  • Communicate and enforce accountability for pricing, profitability, and go-to-market strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activity reports.
  • Assist salespeople in preparing proposals and presentations.
  • Control and monitor expenses to meet budget guidelines.
  • Ensure company policies, procedures, and business ethics are communicated and implemented within the sales team.
  • Recruit salespeople based on criteria established by senior management.
  • Ensure salespeople meet or exceed activity standards for customer prospecting, presentations, and proposals, including required reporting.
  • Collaborate with the Vice President of Agronomy to implement company business strategies and action plans.
  • Work closely with Operations Managers to facilitate efficient operations.
  • Communicate regularly with location managers on teamwork, sales strategies, customer dynamics, operational efficiencies, new account applications, and accounts receivable management.
  • Maintain regular contact with all salespeople and conduct coaching sessions.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in business administration, business management, or an ag-related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales management.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements.
  • High level of initiative, effort, and commitment to completing assignments efficiently.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to organize, adapt to change, and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Proven leadership, coaching, and ability to drive sales teams and agronomy departments.

Physical Requirements

  • Requires static strength to lift, push, pull, or carry objects weighing a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Flexibility to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs.
  • Some tasks involve repetitive motion.
  • Exposure to seasonal weather, outdoor conditions, and agricultural products.
