Agriculture or Agricultural Production, Initial Focus: Veterinary Technology Instructor

About the role

The position is a tenure-track position at Ventura College, starting during the Spring 2027 semester. The recruitment remains open until filled, with initial reviews conducted in September 2026.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic instruction to students through lecture, lab, or performance courses.
• Assess and develop cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher order thinking skills among students.
• Observe and evaluate student performance in meeting course objectives and student learning outcomes.
• Plan and organize instruction according to approved course outlines and student learning outcomes.
• Evaluate and select instructional materials such as textbooks, manuals, software, and tools.
• Participate in curriculum and program development; update syllabi; collaborate with discipline faculty.
• Evaluate and revise course content and materials of instruction in accordance with new developments within the discipline.
• Attend and participate on committees and in department, division, campus, and district meetings.

Requirements

• Minimum qualifications vary by discipline, but generally require a bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience, or an associate degree and six years of professional experience.
• Preferred qualifications include a DVM/license, California veterinary or RVT license, and ability to obtain a DEA license.
• Professional experience is required if the applicant possesses a master's degree.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in agriculture, agriculture science, education with a specialization in agriculture or other agricultural areas.
• Graduate of AVMA accredited veterinary technology program.

Skills

• Ability to obtain a DEA license.
