AGRICULTURAL/WEIGHTS & MEASURES INSPECTOR II
About the role
The Department of Agricultural Commissioner/Weights and Measures seeks an Agricultural/Weights and Measures Inspector II to perform various inspections and investigations, prepare written documents, provide technical assistance, represent the department at public functions, and participate in training programs.
Responsibilities
- Perform various inspections and investigations, weighing and measuring devices, test purchases/sales, and collect appropriate fees.
- Prepare written documents such as notices of violation, reports, and inspection certificates.
- Investigate code violations, gather evidence, maintain records, and respond to inquiries, requests, and complaints.
- Represent the department at public functions and deliver presentations.
- Facilitate training programs regarding inspection, investigation, and enforcement activities.
Requirements
- Option I: Bachelor's degree in agricultural science, biological science, chemical science, physical science, mathematics, or statistics, plus 2 years of experience as an Agricultural/Weights and Measures Inspector I.
- Option II: Bachelor's degree with 30 units in relevant fields, plus 2 years of experience as an Agricultural/Weights and Measures Inspector I.
- A valid State of California weights and measures license in Weight Verification and Measurement Verification, and a valid State of California agricultural license in Commodity Regulation, Pest Prevention and Plant Regulation, and Pesticide Regulation.
- A valid California Class C Driver License is required.
Special Requirement Information
To receive credit for your education, include a legible copy of your official transcript within 15 calendar days of filing your application. Required licenses must be verified with your application.
Physical Class IV - Arduous
This class involves frequent heavy lifting over 25 pounds, often combined with bending, twisting, or working above ground on irregular surfaces.
Examination Content
The exam will cover Professional Potential, Achievement, Coping with Uncertainty, Responsibility, Working to High-Quality Standards, Willingness to Learn, Working Relationships, Analyzing Information, Learning Quickly, Generating New Ideas, Using Time Efficiently, Adapting to Change, Deductive Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, and Professional/Technical Expertise. Applicants must score 70% or higher to be added to the register.
Eligibility Information
Applications will be processed as they are received, and candidates will be added to the list accordingly. Individuals who successfully pass the assessment are placed on a list based on their score group for a duration of 12 months. We will use this list to fill vacancies as they occur. Your score remains valid for 12 months from the date you receive your assessment results notice. No person may compete in this examination more than once every 12 months.
