About the role

We are seeking an Agile Scrum Master to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Agile delivery, Scrum facilitation, Jira administration, and release governance, and a proven ability to optimize team flow, resolve impediments, and deliver complex initiatives effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate Scrum ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews/Demos, Retrospectives, and quarterly planning.
  • Prepare agendas, drive discussions, capture notes and actions, and ensure completion.
  • Coach teams on Agile principles, Scrum practices, and continuous improvement.
  • Promote accountability, collaboration, knowledge sharing, and cross-training.
  • Track team attendance and participation in Agile ceremonies and planning.
  • Act as a servant leader who removes impediments and supports delivery commitments.
  • Administer Jira boards, workflows, dashboards, reports, filters, and Agile tools.
  • Maintain Jira hygiene and ensure stories, defects, tasks, and epics are complete and accurate.
  • Partner with Product Owners to manage backlog health and prioritization.
  • Enforce Definition of Ready and challenge incomplete requirements before development.
  • Leverage Jira metrics, capacity data, and trends for quarterly planning and forecasting.
  • Track and report on velocity, capacity utilization, and sprint performance.
  • Coordinate end-to-end release activities including schedules, calendars, code freezes, UAT, regression, change approvals, deployments, and sign-offs.
  • Communicate release milestones, dependencies, and risks to technology and business stakeholders.
  • Ensure adherence to enterprise change management and governance requirements.
  • Manage risks, dependencies, and blockers across teams and partner organizations.
  • Track enterprise mandates, compliance requirements, and strategic initiatives.
  • Coordinate with application managers, developers, infrastructure, and support teams to meet enterprise requirements.
  • Escalate delivery risks and drive issue resolution across stakeholder groups.
  • Coordinate Level 3 production support and handover processes.
  • Ensure production issues are triaged, prioritized, assigned, and resolved per service levels.
  • Analyze issue trends and drive root-cause and long-term improvements.
  • Manage support schedules, vacation coverage, and capacity planning for readiness.
  • Serve as central coordinator for documentation, status reporting, wiki maintenance, action tracking, support schedules, capacity planning, and release readiness.
  • Maintain current operating procedures and Agile documentation.
  • Support onboarding by guiding Jira usage, Scrum processes, SDLC expectations, and team practices.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Agile/Scrum facilitation and coaching across multiple teams.
  • Hands-on Jira administration including boards, workflows, dashboards, and reporting.
  • Experience with release and change management in enterprise environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with delivery governance experience.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Experience leading medium to high complexity projects or programs.

Preferred Skills

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), SAFe Scrum Master, or equivalent.
  • Experience in large enterprise technology organizations, preferably financial services or capital markets.
  • Familiarity with application development, solution architecture, automation, testing, and DevOps practices.
  • Participation in Scrum of Scrums, Agile Release Train events, and Program Increment planning.

Pay

$78.37/hr (W2)

Schedule

  • Contract - 12 months
  • Hybrid schedule with a minimum of 3 days onsite per week in Jersey City, NJ
  • Start: ASAP (expected start 2-4 weeks after offer, aligned to a specific business date)
