Agency Manager, IFP - Western Region, Seattle Preferred - Remote
About the role
The ACA Agency Manager for UnitedHealthcare Individual & Family Plans is responsible for driving membership growth across an assigned subset of West Region markets while residing in one of the preferred markets. This role involves building solid relationships with agents, agencies, community partners, and key market stakeholders; strengthening sales capability through training and coaching; ensuring a compliant, consumer-focused sales experience; and serving as a liaison between agents, agencies, and internal sales process owners.
Responsibilities
- Achieve assigned sales and membership growth targets across an assigned subset of West Region markets while living in one of the preferred residence markets
- Build, recruit, and manage a high-performing distribution network across independent agents, agencies, and Field Marketing Organizations (FMOs) contracted with UnitedHealthcare
- Lead agent onboarding and readiness, including contracting, licensing and appointments, certification, training, and ongoing field support
- Develop and maintain solid community relationships within assigned markets, including partnerships with local organizations, providers, associations, and community-based groups that support market awareness and consumer engagement
- Partner closely with state-based exchanges and other market-specific stakeholders to support effective execution, visibility, and alignment within assigned markets
- Serve as a liaison between agents, agencies, and internal sales process owners to ensure a smooth agent lifecycle experience, including enrollment administration, commissions, servicing, tools, and systems support
- Plan and execute market-specific communications, meetings, and field activities to drive efficient coordination and solid sales execution across assigned states
- Deliver virtual and in-person training to improve product knowledge, sales execution, and adherence to ACA, CMS, state, and company compliance requirements
- Monitor sales results, trends, and key performance indicators (KPIs); provide coaching and hold agents and agencies accountable to performance expectations
- Demonstrate visible leadership in the market and across internal partnerships, helping foster a solid culture of accountability, collaboration, and service excellence
- Ensure agents follow federal and state-specific sales and marketing regulations, UnitedHealthcare policies, and all applicable compliance standards across assigned markets
Requirements
- Active health insurance license in a West Region market (or ability to obtain licenses in assigned states)
- 2+ years of experience partnering with brokers, conducting sales trainings (in-person and virtually)
- Affordable Care Act (ACA) Individual & Family Plan experience, including knowledge of applicable sales and marketing regulations and guidelines
- Experience managing external distribution channels, motivating, goal setting and goal achievement
- Experience presenting live to all levels of organization including senior/executive leaders
- Proficiency in AI
- To travel up to 25%
- Reside within one of the preferred West Region markets: WA, NM, OK, KS, MO, IA, CO, AZ, NE, or WY
Qualifications
- Experience working with the Federally Facilitated Marketplace (FFM) and State-Based Exchanges across Individual & Family Plan markets
- Individual & Family Plan sales, managed care, outside sales, broker distribution, or territory management experience across multiple markets
- Demonstrated success building community relationships, partnering with external stakeholders, and working effectively with the Federally Facilitated Marketplace (FFM), State-Based Exchanges, or similar market entities
- Proven ability to build solid cross-functional partnerships across enterprise teams, including network, marketing, actuarial, and product
- Proven solid leadership presence with the ability to influence, collaborate, and contribute positively to team culture across a matrixed organization
- Established professional contacts/relationships or active within the community (i.e., non-profits, health providers, community, or faith-based organizations, etc.)

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
The salary for this role will range from $75,000 - $160,000 annually based on full-time employment. This role is also eligible to receive bonuses based on sales performance. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
