LaAmistad is seeking a Bilingual Parent Liaison to strengthen the bridge between Latino families, schools, and our afterschool programs. If you're fluent in both Spanish and English and passionate about helping parents feel empowered and engaged, this is your opportunity to make a meaningful difference.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for parents and guardians, ensuring consistent and culturally sensitive communication in both English and Spanish.
- Translate and distribute key information to families and staff (program announcements, schedules, parent updates, school reports, etc.).
- Aid afterschool staff and volunteer tutors in managing logistics, communication, and parent needs on site.
- Help parents understand and navigate school systems and community services.
- Build meaningful relationships with students' families and support them in addressing educational, behavioral, or social challenges.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records related to parent communication and student needs.
- Refer families to appropriate external resources or agencies when necessary.
- Attend and help coordinate meetings, events, and workshops involving families, school staff, or community partners.
- Support school-home communication and ensure alignment with LaAmistad’s mission and goals.
- Participate in training sessions and team meetings.
Required Qualifications & Requirements
- Fluency in both Spanish and English (written, spoken, and listening)
- High school diploma or GED
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
- Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Zoom
- Ability to multitask, manage priorities, and work both collaboratively and independently
- Access to reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
- Must provide own laptop
Preferred
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree
- Experience with tutoring, parent coaching, school systems, or social services
- Familiarity with the needs of Latino communities and diverse family structures
- Willingness to work occasional evenings/weekends for events
Additional Compensation
Candidates over age 25 who are willing to drive a small bus/van to transport up to 14 students to afterschool, in addition to filling this role, will receive an additional $2/hour above their determined pay rate.
