Responsibilities

  • Aid other staff members in the pick-up of children from local public schools and accompany them back to the Center.
  • Review and assist children in completing their homework assignments correctly.
  • Keep accurate records of children's assignments and progress.
  • Inform the Director of any concerns (social, academic, etc.) regarding the students.
  • Tutor students when necessary.
  • Aid and/or organize games, crafts, and other recreational activities.
  • Supervise children during pick-ups, trips to parks, playgrounds, and field trips.
  • Maintain accurate records and tracking slips, including attendance, lunch counts, etc.
  • Ensure proper staff-to-student ratios at all times.
  • Perform other duties as directed by Corps Officer and/or Director.

Qualifications

  • At least a Junior or Senior in High School with an outstanding academic report.
  • Maintain an “A” or “B” average in academic reports.
  • Be able to walk to and from schools (for pick-ups).
  • Be able to work outdoors for recreational activities.
  • Be flexible to assist the Director and/or other staff in any necessary tasks.
  • Understand and appreciate the mission of The Salvation Army.
