Part-time position, 20 hours per week (2:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M.), pay rate: $15.00 per hour.
About the Role
The Salvation Army, an international movement and evangelical part of the universal Christian church, seeks a part-time staff member to protect, guide, stimulate, and help children in the After School and Summer Day Camp program. This role provides wholesome, character-building programming and supervision to school-age children.
Responsibilities
- Assist the program director with program preparation.
- Prepare materials and equipment needed for daily activities.
- Serve meals and supervise children during meal periods.
- Oversee a specified age group and daily activities.
- Lead and participate in all facets of the program: recreation, snack, craft, pool, field trips, etc.
- Enforce facility policies: no swearing, no alcohol, no drug use, and no violence.
- Follow progressive disciplinary procedures when needed.
- Document and report accidents using the EER process.
- Perform end-of-day cleaning and organizing as needed.
- Drive as an essential function of the position.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience working with school-age children.
- Ability to be flexible and work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency in accessing payroll, timekeeping, and personal data via a web-based system.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to build relationships with children and parents/guardians.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters.
- Must pass all applicable background checks.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license from your state of residence.
- Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.
Certifications
- CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army.
Physical Requirements
- Good speaking, hearing, and vision ability, along with excellent manual dexterity.
- Ability to stand, bend, and reach for extended periods.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers.
- Ability to lift and/or move more than 25 pounds occasionally.
Working Conditions
- Moderate to loud work environment at times.
- Frequent exposure to sun and outdoor conditions in varying weather.

Pay
$15.00 per hour.
Schedule
20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 2:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M.
