After School Aide

Part-time position, 20 hours per week (2:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M.), pay rate: $15.00 per hour.

About the Role

The Salvation Army, an international movement and evangelical part of the universal Christian church, seeks a part-time staff member to protect, guide, stimulate, and help children in the After School and Summer Day Camp program. This role provides wholesome, character-building programming and supervision to school-age children.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the program director with program preparation.
  • Prepare materials and equipment needed for daily activities.
  • Serve meals and supervise children during meal periods.
  • Oversee a specified age group and daily activities.
  • Lead and participate in all facets of the program: recreation, snack, craft, pool, field trips, etc.
  • Enforce facility policies: no swearing, no alcohol, no drug use, and no violence.
  • Follow progressive disciplinary procedures when needed.
  • Document and report accidents using the EER process.
  • Perform end-of-day cleaning and organizing as needed.
  • Drive as an essential function of the position.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience working with school-age children.
  • Ability to be flexible and work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in accessing payroll, timekeeping, and personal data via a web-based system.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to build relationships with children and parents/guardians.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters.
  • Must pass all applicable background checks.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license from your state of residence.
  • Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.

Certifications

  • CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army.

Physical Requirements

  • Good speaking, hearing, and vision ability, along with excellent manual dexterity.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and reach for extended periods.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers.
  • Ability to lift and/or move more than 25 pounds occasionally.

Working Conditions

  • Moderate to loud work environment at times.
  • Frequent exposure to sun and outdoor conditions in varying weather.

Pay

$15.00 per hour.

Schedule

20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 2:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M.
