About the role
Sacred Heart School in Lake Worth Beach, FL is searching for an Aftercare Counselor (part-time).

Responsibilities
- Supervise students during the aftercare program to ensure their safety, well-being, and positive behavior.
- Maintain a safe, nurturing, and welcoming environment for all students.
- Follow all school policies and procedures regarding student supervision, discipline, and emergency protocols.
- Take accurate daily attendance and ensure students are released only to authorized individuals.
- Aid students with homework by providing guidance and encouragement while promoting independent learning.
- Plan and facilitate age-appropriate recreational, educational, and enrichment activities.
- Encourage positive social interactions and model respectful, Christ-centered behavior.
- Communicate professionally with parents, guardians, and school staff regarding student needs and concerns.
- Monitor students during indoor and outdoor play, ensuring appropriate use of equipment and adherence to safety rules.
- Provide first aid or seek assistance for minor injuries and immediately report accidents or incidents according to school procedures.
- Aid with snack distribution while following health, allergy, and sanitation guidelines.
- Maintain clean, organized, and orderly aftercare classrooms and activity areas.
- Support students with varying academic, behavioral, and developmental needs using patience and positive reinforcement.
- Report behavioral concerns, injuries, or unusual incidents promptly to the Aftercare Director.
- Participate in emergency drills and respond appropriately during emergencies.
- Aid with transitions between classrooms, playgrounds, and dismissal areas.
- Demonstrate punctuality, dependability, professionalism, and appropriate confidentiality.
- Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administration to support the mission of the school.
- Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Aftercare Director or Principal.
Qualifications
- DCF Credentials
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in education or child development preferred.
- Ability to supervise groups of children while maintaining a positive and structured environment.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain certification).
- Ability to actively supervise children indoors and outdoors.
- Commitment to supporting the mission and values of a Catholic school
- Experience working in Afterschool Program
- Experience preparing and managing activities for afterschool groups
- Ability to lead counselors in implementation of afterschool activities
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet.
- Ability to multi-task, work independently and make responsible judgment calls.
- Ability to work effectively with Diocesan employees, departments heads, representatives of other agencies and the general public.
- Excellent written, verbal and public speaking skills.
- Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving capacity.
- Ability to stay focused and organized.
