About the role

The Kids Café Program was developed to provide a safe, drug-free environment, academic help, and life skills training for school-age children to become productive citizens in our community.

Responsibilities

• Represent the Salvation Army in accordance with the Eastern Territory Employee Manual.
• Supervise children in accordance with OCFS regulations (Section 414).
• Implement and supervise activities assigned by the Kids Café Program Director or Site Assistant.
• Complete and implement lesson plans for activities.
• Help children with homework.
• Monitor meals and teach appropriate table manners.
• Implement the Kids Café Program Health Plan, including daily health checks, basic first aid, and familiarity with emergency procedures (according to the Kids Café Program Evacuation Plan and Child’s Medical Release form).
• Use Kids Café Program forms properly (attendance sheets, Incident Report, Behavioral Support Plans, etc.) and follow policies in the parent information handbook.
• Manage behavior for children under your care.
• Act as a mandated reporter of NYS.
• Follow the Staff Supervision Policy.
• Maintain cleanliness in areas designated for children.
• Be available and flexible to help in other areas.
• Plan educational, recreational, and special event activities.
• Maintain inventory of materials and supplies for activities.
• Complete all other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

• Work well with school-age children.
• CPR certification.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Good organizational skills.
