About the role
The Child Care Teacher is responsible for planning and carrying out a daily program designed to nurture and meet the physical and developmental needs of a group of young children. This person must be able to effectively assess and supervise the needs of individual children, and must be professionally prepared as a teacher of young children, especially in the field of early childhood education or development. The selected candidate must meet the requirements of licensing and YoungStar agencies, and be a sensitive and mature individual who can relate well to both children and adults.
Responsibilities
- Fulfill all responsibilities in accordance with the center's educational philosophy.
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment for children, ensuring the health, safety, dignity, and basic rights of each child are protected.
- Assist children in learning self-help skills and appropriate personal hygiene habits.
- Complete all legally-required reporting for the health and safety of the child, and comply with all licensing rules and center policies.
- Maintain time management, punctuality, and attendance.
- Supervise and interact with children to enhance their growth and development, ensuring their safety using approved behavior guidance and care-giving techniques that support the overall program objectives.
- Participate in activities that promote professionalism and work together with other staff members to create a positive, team-oriented environment in the center.
- Communicate clearly with parents and build relationships with families to provide care that is inclusive of the family.
Requirements
- High school diploma
- Professional preparation as a teacher of young children, especially in early childhood education or development
Nice to Haves
- CPR certification
- Abusive Head Trauma training
- Mandated Reporter certification
Schedule
No nights or weekends.
