After School STEM Instructor - Elementary
About the role
We are seeking enthusiastic, motivated, and talented Lead Instructors to guide students through our world-class, project-based learning curriculum in after-school programs. Instructors help students discover new technology skills in coding, Minecraft, Roblox, video editing, game design, and more. This is a part-time, hourly position with full school-year sessions (10 weeks each) and options to continue into additional seasons.
Get in-room teaching experience with excited students—no formal experience required, though teaching experience in some capacity is highly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Guide students through project-based learning in technology-focused subjects such as coding, Minecraft, Roblox, video editing, and game design.
- Transport and set up approximately 30 lbs of equipment within the Elk Grove Unified School District.
- Maintain consistent attendance; substitutes are not available.
- Work with teacher-to-student ratios of 20:1 for elementary schoolers.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Completed 48 college units minimally OR passed the NCLB Exam or compliant equivalent.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Significant experience working with children ages 8–14 or in technology (both is ideal).
- Experience with children in an educational setting is preferred but not required.
- Reliable transportation and ability to work after school hours (approximately 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM, Monday–Friday).
- Strong technology skills preferred, such as a background in 3D modeling, digital arts, coding, game creation, animation, robotics, video editing, or competitive gaming. Significant knowledge of Minecraft or Roblox (including modding or streaming) is also valuable.
Pay
$20/hr – $26/hr
