Just for Kids, recognized as Employer of the Year by Buffalo State and the University at Buffalo, seeks enthusiastic, creative, and motivated staff passionate about working with today's youth. The organization provides before and after school and summer programming across multiple districts in Western New York.

Position Summary

Sports Specialists work directly with groups of children, creating and implementing safe, supervised, fun, engaging, and age-appropriate physical activities within a structured after school setting. Activities should support gross motor skills, creativity, teamwork, and wellness/physical activity, as approved by the Program Manager.

Just for Kids is a community-centered non-profit organization offering before and after school and summer programming in the Amherst, Cheektowaga Central, Cheektowaga Sloan, Cleveland Hill (Cheektowaga), Grand Island, Sweet Home, and Williamsville Central School Districts. Programming is also available at The Park School of Buffalo, Saints Peter and Paul School in Hamburg, St. Benedict School in Amherst, St. Mary's School in Swormville, and Nardin Academy in Buffalo.

Schedule

After school programs operate Monday through Friday, from dismissal through the close of program (5:30pm or 6:00pm). Morning programs run from 7:00am/7:15am through the start of school. Five day availability is preferred but not required. An additional 1 hour of planning time each week school is in session is provided.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older
  • Must be cleared through NYS OCFS, including background checks, medical clearance, and fingerprinting
  • Regular and predictable attendance required

Qualifications

  • Must have earned a minimum of an Associates Degree in Education or related field OR High School Diploma and 1 year of direct experience in care of children 13 years of age and younger
  • Experience planning and implementing sports curriculum/activities to children preferred

Physical Requirements

This position is very active and requires walking, bending, kneeling, running, twisting, and squatting. Prolonged periods of standing and frequent bending are common. Generally, must be able to lift up to 10 pounds at a time.
